What's Hot

  • Fantastic location dominated by the impressive bulk of the spectacular Le Morne Brabant mountain and an excellent beach
  • If you love a bit of variety while on holiday, Dinarobin lets you enjoy its more tranquil surrounds whilst also giving you access to the activities, golf course and other restaurants at next door sister-resort Paradis
  • Because there are no water-sports on offer here (instead you go next door to Paradis) it's a quieter ambiance that prevails here
  • For pure soaking decadence, order a scented bath from the "bath menu" with complimenting treats to snack on

What's Not

  • The beach here is perhaps not quite as stunning as at Paradis
  • If you don't fancy moving around, you may find having to go to Paradis for water-sports a bit of a schlepp
  • Could be a bit quiet and restrained for some people who would then perhaps be happier at Paradis

The stylish 5 star deluxe Dinarobin Beachcomber is situated on arguably the most spectacular site in south-west Mauritius, at the foot of Le Morne Mountain which forms the ideal background for perfect sunsets. A long stretch of soft and unspoilt beach surrounds the peninsula as well as a small turquoise lagoon – for once this is a resort where the reality matches the idyllic publicity photos! The Dinarobin shares this section of the peninsular with its sister resort, the stylish Paradis Beachcomber, so guests here also have the bonus of being able to utilize the facilities of both resorts including all the different restaurants and, of course, the excellent golf course – so you’ll never be short of facilities or things to do! With 172 suites the Dinarobin is a large resort and feels like one, so will perhaps not suit those looking for a small and intimate boutique hotel. But because it is spread generously along the wide stretch of beach you never feel as though everything is on top of you and there’s always space to find a tranquil spot to relax in peace on your own.

A definite highlight of the Dinarobin has to be the suites which are all very large and luxuriously appointed. One thing that can cause a little confusion is the ‘Club’ element before the suite category - this is basically an all-suite affair hotel offering junior and senior suites and the rooms become ‘club’ if you opt for the club package giving you access to a private lounge steeped in a colonial atmosphere, the Martello, where you can enjoy various drinks and snacks in tranquil surroundings. All Junior Suites (65m²) are the same and it is only their location which differs - you obviously pay more to be closer to the beach. The difference between the Junior and Senior Suite is basically twofold: firstly size with the Senior Suite coming in at 115m² (but if you can’t stretch to a Senior Suite, the Junior Suite is usually more than adequate in size for most people) ; and secondly location with the Club Senior suites being located mere steps from the beach whereas the Juniors, Club Juniors and Club Beachfront Juniors are behind the Club Senior suites.

The beach is absolutely gorgeous here with soft sand shelving into enviably clear water – it’s still worthwhile to take some water shoes though as you may encounter some coral swimming out in the lagoon. The watersports centre allows you to enjoy most of the usual water-based activities whilst waterskiing is available from Paradis which cuts down on noise nicely at the Dinarobin. But the main attraction here has to be the Paradis golf course which is scenically stunning as it crosses a creek and hugs the lagoon all with the imposing form of Le Morne mountain looming in the background – it’s an enjoyable challenge for experienced golfers and hackers alike. Book a tee time at the Paradis course and you’ll have a golf cart delivered to your suite’s door 30 minutes beforehand! For golfing widows the good news is that there is a stunning Spa at Dinarobin – it really is a beautiful facility so it’s definitely worth putting some money aside in your holiday budget to enjoy a treatment or three here!

Being an upmarket luxury resort, you don’t necessarily think of Dinarobin as a resort suited to children, but as with all of Beachcomber’s properties, it’s a great resort for families. The kid’s club will have your children entertained for as long as you like and babysitting services (at additional charge) mean that you can catch up on some much needed time on your own. All suites can accommodate children and there are also inter-leading suites and Family suites on offer. The resort is large enough that the noises of children playing will not carry over and distract honeymooners and other couples. In fact, Dinarobin now offers an "Adults Only" section whereby the last crescent of rooms has been reserved for couples.

Food enthusiasts are very well catered for and the dining at Dinarobin attracts consistently excellent reviews. There are four restaurants providing you with an ample choice of cuisine and settings even before you factor in that you are also able to make reservations at the restaurants of the next door sister resort, the Paradis, if you fancy a change of scenery. The poolside main restaurant, L'Harmonie, specializes in buffets but is cleverly designed to give a feeling of intimacy and privacy through the creation of smaller dining areas. Then there’s Umami which is a Pan-Asian restaurant enjoying a romantic setting at the edge of the pool terrace fringed by palm trees. Il Gusto, the Italian Restaurant, is a lovely welcoming place where you can savour Tuscan dishes and finally, shaded by thatched roofing and palm trees, La Plage Restaurant is right on the beach and offers a more casual atmosphere where you can dig your feet into the sand whilst enjoying a wide selection of delicious seafood at lunch.

There are a number of bars at the resort ranging from the beach bar, the Butik Bar, with its casual Robinson Crusoe ambience to the Mahogany Bar in the centre of the resort where you can sip a chilled drink, enjoy some nibbles and listen to jazz band or piano player whilst planning whether you should play another round of golf tomorrow or simply relax on the beach!
